Today we start the beta of fav.or.it,
fav.or.it is a unique product that not only allows you to read content from across the blogosphere but also to interact with it without leaving the website. This is important so that we can engage a whole new target audience that do not have the technical understand to use the current products on the market.

We are starting to give out invites for the thousands of people who pre-registered to use the product. This will be done in a phased approach to make sure the infrastructure that is in place is capable of supporting the traffic. If you have not already pre-registered you can still do so on the homepage.
We are also very pleased today to announce that the commenting company Disqus will be supporting the fav.or.it API to allow any Disqus enabled blog to interact directly with fav.or.it – This gives the blog owners using Disqus access to a much more diverse target audience and a way to gain more traffic. Like any other blog aggregated by fav.or.it they will gain access to a wide range of attention based traffic data which can be used to help them understand their target audience and enabled them to better tag/categorize future posts.

Can you give a sense of how long it will take to get through the phases? In other words, for those of us who registered a while ago, how much longer, worst case, should we expect to wait?

Can’t wait to use this tool. I got frustrated with the current crop of web based news readers that I built my own that included some of the functionality I was looking for. Mainly grouping articles based on tags rather then reading feed after feed. That way I can see all the like stories grouped together and mark read in mass rather then seeing the same thing show up feed after feed.
I was about to purchase NewsFire soon, and your beta launch news stopped me from doing so. I’m looking forward to it!
