I thought I would quickly show off our new attention graph for posts. The graph is what we call ‘Attention Voting’ which is a combination of the time users spend reading a post along with if they voted it up/down. This gives each post a unique attention profile. In the screenshot (click on it to get the high-res version) The red line represents number of minutes voted down, the blue number of minutes voted up and the orange it’s actual attention profile which comes out of both being added together. Along with this data we will also be exposing what keywords/categories created this attention.
Recommendation
Why is this data important? fav.or.it is unique in that it tracks the number of minutes it’s users spend reading posts, that data cannot be faked/cheated/manipulated, therefore our recommendation engine can suggest posts that are really getting attention and have not got to the top of the pile because of ‘gaming’.

API
Look out later for an announcement about the fav.or.it API.
